![]() The annual Swallows Day Parade began as a local school carnival and eventually transformed into a huge parade. SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (Catholic Online) - Fiesta de las Golondrinas, or Swallows Festival, began as a local school carnival which transformed into a huge parade, with other events added over the years. Other events include Hoos'gow Day, Fiesta Grande, and the El Presidente Ball. The festival is marked as the largest non-motorized parade in the country. This year's parade will be presenting 11 marching bands, 200 entries, 400 horses, and about 40,000 spectators. So come join the fun on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m, rain or shine. Shuttle service will be provided from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. for those who park at lots off Rancho Viejo Road or at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center.
