ORANGE COUNTY, CA (Catholic Online) - Orange County Animal Care sent animal control officers to try to locate the bunnies at Harriet M. Weider Regional Park. OCAC is looking to rescue the bunnies and are asking for the public's help in finding who abandoned the animals. Animals that have been born into a domestic environment struggle to adapt in the wild as finding food, water, and shelter can prove to be a challenge, according to OC Animal Care officals. The story was first reported by the Huntington Beach Independent after a neighbor called and reported that a truck had dumped a large number of bunnies at the park on Sunday. "To abandon a domesticated animal is really a negligent and cruel thing to do," Ryan Drabek, OCAC director, said. Drabek also said that the person responsible for this incident could face misdemeanor animal abandonment charges if caught. Any residents who see or have confined one of the abandoned bunnies in Weider Park are asked to call OC Animal Care immediately at 714-935-6848 © 2012, Distributed by NEWS CONSORTIUM. - - - Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer Intentions for January 2013 General Intention: The Faith of Christians.
